Five Minute Mile — Our Story

Five Minute Mile wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built on a park run.

I'm Garvin, a doctor from Belfast and a runner — though not the kind you might expect. I don't chase personal bests. I'm not training for elites. I just run because it makes me feel alive, clears my head, and reminds me that showing up is enough.

When I started Five Minute Mile I wanted to create running apparel that felt as serious about the sport as I did. But somewhere along the way the slogans crept in. Earn every second. Break your barrier. Words that looked good on paper but never quite felt right when I was wearing them on a quiet Tuesday morning jog around the park.

Because here's the truth — I can't run a five minute mile. And right now I'm not trying to. And that's completely fine.

What I noticed was that a lot of runners feel the same way. The park runners. The first 5k finishers. The people attempting their first marathon not because anyone told them to but because something in them needed to know if they could. Brilliant, dedicated, passionate runners who felt slightly on the outside of a culture that sometimes seems only interested in pace and podiums.

Five Minute Mile is for those people. For us.

The name isn't a target. It's a symbol of everything we love about this sport — the ambition, the graft, the quiet dedication of people who run for the pure love of it.

Run with us. Even when you run alone.
